Jared has been feeling sick for a little over a week and today showed his amazing faith again.Yesterday when we were going to church he was not feeling well and was ended up taking a nap during Sacrament. He ended up going home with Mom. Last night he was still coughing and was stuffed up, so today Mom gave him an early lunch and asked him to go up to his bed and have a quiet time and relax. Well, about 30 or 40 minutes go by and he comes out of the room wanting to say something to Mom.
"Mommy, I'm still feeling a little sick, but I'm feeling better. I said a prayer only to myself saying not to be sick and I'm feeling better because I said a prayer for only me. But I'm still a little sick."
He has expressed many times his desire to be spiritual and I am so thankful for this. Many times he has had a large problem or a sickness or an injury and has been able, through requests of himself, or by example, to use prayer and faith to change and influence the situation. Multiple strong impacts to the head, 3 toenails completely ripped off and toes crushed by a metal rocking chair, etc. etc. etc. He has always turned to the Lord and is a special example to me as his father.

So I've decided to try and make more posts on everyone's blog. Today it is Jared's turn. This morning he came to our room and started telling Mom about his dream that he had had. I was taking a shower so all I have is the summarized and translated version.
Essentially, he was on a green and yellow airplane. On this airplane was "everything he would need to be a farmer". This included a tractor, cows, sheep, a dog, and even a house where he could sleep at night. There was no pilot for the airplane, only another person that would help him drive the tractor.
He was so excited that this airplane was able to take all of the things he needed to be a farmer. What a cute boy, green and yellow through and through!

OK, just a quick little post to keep records. This morning, as usual, both Jared and Ben came to our room and starting playing and beginning their day. A while ago they learned the fun game of No Thanks / Yes Please and play it regularly.
(For those that don't know what I'm talking about: One person begins the game usually by asking the other for something and the other answers No Thank-you. The first then begins the game by asking again Yes Please, with the response No Please. This goes on and on till one or both get tired. The game gets interesting when they get the idea of trying to trick the other by changing their statement. For example Yes, No, Yes, No, Yes, *** YES, No, Yes, No... and the other has to respond in the opposite of the first.
Ben is very good at this and totally got the game part early on. Jared kinda gets it and plays along.) < Back to the story >
They were playing a bit and Jared got confused and began to repeat everything that Ben was saying. EVERY WORD! Yeah, the parrot game is a genetic thing for kids because they don't need to be taught. Jared tossed something off the bed and Ben reported it and Jared repeated the report, then Ben said "You, go down and grab it." Almost immediately Jared repeated "Me go down and grab it."
I mean, not a crazy thing, but he was repeating exactly (to the best of his pronunciation) every word, and then to jump out for the first time into first person mode was pretty cool. Mom and I both looked at each other and just smiled in amazement.
A 1st person statement from our 2nd child from a 3rd person request.

"Goofy"

Very few, if any, of you have heard us calling Jared the nick-name "Goofy". From the time that he was just a very little baby, and yes I realize that he is still just a very little baby, he has been the one with a very funny sense of humor. Yesterday we were eating dinner and he declared that he was done, but then Mommy made a new pitcher of juice and all of the sudden he wasn't full any more. His mouth was still full and he wasn't able to say anything, so with a little bit of background music playing he started dancing with the craziest little head bob up and down in answer to the question, "Do you want some juice?". Sometimes he can really be a very funny little man in his teasing, but very quick to act appropriately afterward personality.

OK so thismorning as we were all getting up Jared was the first one to make it to our bed wide-eyed and bushy headed. We did our normal play a little and wait for the other one to wake up. Part of our play was to review colors and the sign language associated with them. I half expected him to get two of them because I had seen him use the sign for red, but he went 5/5 with red, orange, yellow, purple and blue. Then we went on to some animals and he got 3/4 of cat, dog, horse and needed the first sylable of vaca (cow) to remember. He is such a fast and effictive learner.

OK mabey it isn't that exciting to some of you but this was a complete show stopper for me. Jared is like most kids and loves to eat his Cheerios by the handfull. Today was no exception. As dinner of brocholi and soup was being prepared ne natives got restless and we turned to the old get-me-by of Cheerios. Ben will get a mouthfull then leave and play while they go soggy and chewable in his mouth. Jared is more inclined to grab as much as he can in both hands and try his luck at putting them all in at once. He had more fingers in his mouth than Cheerios and many of these prized items were being dropped on the floor with only a few actually making it to his mouth. I had been talking in english about something and seeing the abundance of energy and saliva being spent on so few actual pieces said "Yo, Jared, it would be a whole lot more efficient for you to take these one at a time in your mouth instead of puttin' the whole thing in there at once." As all kids do they c
ontinue with their plans and proceed to eat off the floor for a while.
Here is the crazy part. The floor gets cleaned up by eating some and cleaning up most and he signs and asks for more. I reach in and grab a small handfull (about enough for a full hand for him) and he proceeds to pick 2-3 the first time, but then grabbed each Cheerio in very quick succession one by one into his mouth! I looked at him and was totally speachless. A simple comment made mostly as a joke to the adults to look at the mess Jared was making turned into a complete learning experiance that was applied and instigated in a matter of moments. I was speaking fast and somewhat upper level words but he understood every word and did it. WAY CRAZY COOL!
